#TeamREV Spotlight: FTC #365 MOE
Dec 6th 2024
Our first #TeamREV Spotlight of the 2024-25 season is FTC Team #365 - MOE!
Tell us a little bit about your team’s background.
Our team is comprised of seven members, with four returning students from various schools and three new students. Our team ranges from 8th - 12th grade. With a variety of skills on our team, we are excited to re-structure this year and focus more on cross-training each of our members. We want to ensure each person is introduced to mechanical engineering concepts, has experienced the prototype and CAD process, and is involved with scheduling, communicating, administrative tasks, and more that keep a robotics team going. Our team values learning and curiosity, and is excited to maintain strong community partnerships so we can share those values (and STEM concepts) with the external community.
What are some of your team's achievements?
Over the past three seasons, our team is proud to have celebrated many accomplishments. To begin, our team has won the Delaware Inspire Award for the past four seasons and attended FIRST Championship for the past three.
We have also started and mentored five new FTC teams, helping to start a community-based team Robosapiens in 2021, and most recently starting two sister teams, InfernMOE and Carbon Fiber Crocs for their 2024-2025 rookie season.
Additionally, our outreach program has been very successful, and last season we were able to reach over 900 people with 16 outreach events. We also began a MOE-mentum Initiative, propelling students and community members toward participation in FIRST programs and helping provide mentorship and shared resources to programs across our region. We have built out sessions on Grant Writing, Programming, Mechanical Design, etc. that help new students learn skills directly from FTC veterans.
There are also many goals that our team is currently working towards. We want to make sure that new teams we spin out are strong and sustainable, while also focusing time on developing our team's own skills. Our team is significantly smaller this year, and we are looking forward to re-structuring our team's roles to ensure every student has hands-on robot build experience, and it has been very fun so far. We are excited to implement these goals this season and see our team progress alongside other successful FTC teams!
What community partnerships or events does your team participate in?
We have ongoing partnerships with the Hagley Museum and the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science - we are often invited by those organizations to demonstrate our robots at their events. For example, we were presented at Hagley’s summer camp about robotics and gave a robot demonstration that the kids could interact with.
We have also worked hard towards developing the Delaware FIRST community. Last season, we were able to speak at FLL programs, where we talked to the kids about joining FTC teams after graduating from FLL. Our team is excited to continue partnerships with local museums and science education organizations, as well as support two new sister FTC teams as they compete in their rookie seasons.
As a returning member of #TeamREV for a third consecutive season, what has your team enjoyed about our Sponsorship Program?
We have enjoyed each challenge over the season and had fun filming videos, incorporating the REV brand across our materials, and meeting other #TeamREV FTC programs at Worlds!
