#TeamREV Spotlight: FRC #6045 Sabre Robotics

Apr 10th 2024

Keeping #NationalRoboticsWeek rolling with another #TeamREV spotlight! Meet FRC Team #6045: Sabre Robotics, from Sartell, Minnesota.

Tell us a little bit about your team’s background.

Our team was founded in 2016, but we established stable leadership during the 2023 season. We won the Lake Superior Regional and secured our spot at FIRST Championship. Our CHARGED UP robot was named Bismark (like the donut). Our members mentor our local middle school's robotics team, and are very involved with our community.

We started as a small team with one mentor in 2016, and since then, we have grown to a team of twenty-seven students and eight mentors. We won our first blue banner last year at the Lake Superior Regional. Our team was the first Minnesotan team to win a playoff at the Indiana Robotics Invitational. Our pit boss, Paige, won the Dean's List Award last season.

What are a few recent achievements your team is proud of?

  • During the offseason, we participated in three different events. The three events were Gitchi Gummi, the Minnesota Robotics Invitational, and Minne Mini. We started doing more offseason training to prepare for the season, such as CAD practices.
  • Our programming team improved our vision odometry system.
  • Our team helped fundraise $55,000 for the Granite City Regional.
  • Our build team has been extremely successful since Kickoff and has made numerous successful prototypes.

What is your favorite part about being in the #TeamREV program?

We love the community that REV Robotics has created, and we are extremely grateful for the opportunities that they have provided for us. It has given us great exposure. We have met and interacted with many teams through this program, which has provided our team with great learning experiences.
